Rae's Story
Total Assistance: $19,200
“I truly believe that we will get through this loss with God’s grace. I am hurting and will hurt a lot more when the day comes to say goodbye to my love.”
Rae is the type of person who is constantly helping others as much as she can. But sometimes being so selfless can leave her without everything she needs for herself. A single mother of three, the family has dealt with many hardships this year. Both Rae and one of her daughters contracted COVID-19. Rae was so weakened by her symptoms that she couldn’t go to work for 3 months, which led to her losing that job. She’s still dealing with symptoms of long-COVID.
That didn’t stop her from taking in three of her children’s friends when she found out that those three girls had been sleeping on mats in a basement. She is exploring options for the kids to live with her permanently.
While all of this is going on, she’s attending to her boyfriend who is in the later stages of bone cancer and unable to work due to his health. With all of the health expenses the family has dealt with over the last year, along with temporary guardianship of her daughters’ friends, keeping up with her expenses has been difficult. We’re honored to be able to help Rae, as she has set such a good example of helping others.
